Most people who search for “MCA login” are trying to do one of three things: file a form, check a company’s details, or complete their own DIR-3 KYC. Since the Ministry of Corporate Affairs finished moving everything to the MCA21 V3 portal, all three start with a V3 account — and the login credentials you used on the old V2 portal will not get you in.
This guide covers what the V3 user categories actually mean, which one you need, the registration steps for each, and the errors that stop most first-time registrations.
Do You Even Need an MCA V3 Login?
Start here, because a lot of people create an account they never needed.

That last row used to be a straightforward “no” on the MCA portal itself. In December 2025 the Ministry switched off no-login access to Company and LLP master data on V3, and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has since formally asked the Ministry to restore free public access, arguing that quick verification is essential for professionals and third parties doing due diligence. Depending on when you are reading this, you may or may not hit a login wall on mca.gov.in.

Registered User vs Business User
V3 splits accounts into two tiers, and picking the wrong one is the single most common reason a filing gets blocked halfway through.
Registered User
The basic tier. Anyone with a PAN and an email can create one. It gives you access to master data services, View Public Documents, e-consultation, the complaint forms, and a limited set of filings — RUN, SPICe+, FiLLiP, IEPF-5, the refund form, DIR-3 and DIR-3 KYC.
For a founder incorporating one company, or a director doing nothing but annual KYC, this tier is usually enough.
Business User
The tier that can file on behalf of a company or LLP. When you register as a Business User you also pick a sub-role, and the sub-role decides what you can sign and submit:
- Director / Designated Partner — register with your DIN or DPIN
- Professional (CS, CA, CMA) — register with your PAN and membership number
- Manager, Secretary or Authorised Representative — register with your PAN and the CIN of the company you represent
- Company / LLP — register with the CIN or LLPIN plus PAN
- Nodal Officer (IEPF) and Professional Staff — specialised roles for IEPF matters and firm staff
If you already have a Registered User account and later need to file for a company, you do not start over. Log in, open User Category, select Business User, click Edit, fill in the details manually and confirm.
How to Register on the MCA V3 Portal
- Go to the MCA portal and choose Sign In / Sign Up, then Register.
- Enter your PAN. Type your name exactly as it appears in the PAN database — this is where most registrations fail.
- Fill in your email, mobile number and address. The email becomes your user ID and cannot be reused on a second account.
- Pick your user category. Registered User if you only need basic services; Business User plus a sub-role if you will file for a company or LLP.
- Verify the OTPs sent to your email and mobile.
- Set your password and security questions, then log in.
- If you will sign forms, associate your DSC against the registered PAN before your first filing.
Why Your V2 Login Does Not Work
V2 accounts were not carried across. The Ministry disabled e-filing of the final batch of 38 company e-forms on V2 on 18 June 2025, and those forms went live on V3 on 14 July 2025 after a short maintenance window. With that, V2 stopped being a filing platform altogether.
If you had a V2 account, register fresh on V3 using the same PAN. You keep your DIN, your CIN and your filing history — you are only creating new portal credentials.
Registration Errors and How to Clear Them

Portal-side glitches are worth ruling out too. ICSI has made repeated representations to the Ministry about persistent technical problems on V3 and has asked for late-fee relief where filings failed for portal reasons.
