MCA V3 Master Data: How to View Company and LLP Master Data on the V3 Portal (2026)

Written by Timo Vikson • Published on 3 Sep 2026 • Read time minutes

You open the bookmark you have used for years, mca.gov.in/mcafoportal/viewCompanyMasterData.do, and get an error page. Or you find the new “View Company/LLP Master Data” link on the V3 portal, and instead of a search box you get a sign-in screen. Both have the same cause: MCA V3 master data is served by a different portal, in a different place, under different rules than the V2 page most guides still describe.

This is the portal walkthrough: where the service sits on V3, what each screen asks for, how it differs from V2, and what to do when it breaks. For what the fields mean, use our guide to MCA company master data and how to read it. If you only want the record, the same data is free without any login on WeeDoo company search.

Where Master Data Sits on the MCA V3 Portal

On mca.gov.in, hover over MCA Services in the top navigation and open the Master Data group. Document downloads live one group over, under Document Related Services.

ServiceWhat it returns, and the search key
View Company/LLP Master DataIdentity, status, capital, registered office, directors or partners, charges
Search by: CIN, FCRN, LLPIN or FLLPIN, or a name search
View Director Master Data (some guides: View DIN Master Data)A director’s DIN record with past and present board roles
Search by: DIN or director name
View Signatory DetailsDirectors, designated partners and other key managerial persons with appointment and cessation dates
Search by: CIN or LLPIN
View Index of ChargesCharges registered against the company’s assets, with holder and amount
Search by: CIN or LLPIN
View Public DocumentsThe filed forms and attachments themselves, for a fee
Search by: CIN or LLPIN, or a name search

Start with the company/LLP lookup; its result page already carries the signatory and charge sections.

How to View MCA V3 Master Data, Screen by Screen

  1. Open MCA Services, then Master Data, then View Company/LLP Master Data. If the portal shows a sign-in page instead of a search form, see the login section below.
  2. The search screen has one identifier box that accepts a CIN, FCRN, LLPIN or FLLPIN. If you have the number, type it; our guide to the CIN format explains the 21-character structure if the portal rejects what you paste.
  3. If you only know the name, click the search icon next to the Company/LLP Name field, type part of the name in the dialog and pick the entity from the list. The portal returns you to the form with the identifier filled in.
  4. Enter the captcha and click Submit. Expect to redo it if the page sat idle; ICSI complained in July 2024 that viewing basic master data on V3 demanded the captcha four times.
  5. The result page opens on the master record, with the Directors/Signatory Details and Index of Charges sections for the same entity. You can export the record to Excel or print it.

What the result page shows

The master record covers identity (CIN or LLPIN, name, ROC, registration number, incorporation date, class and category), capital, registered address, status and the last balance sheet and annual return dates. The signatory block lists each director or designated partner with DIN and appointment date; the charges block lists each charge with holder and amount. The pillar guide explains the fields; the index of charges guide covers the charge entries.

Master data is not a live feed. It updates when a filing is approved, and one professional-firm guide puts the refresh at one to three days after approval. Read the last-filing dates before you trust the rest.

The Login Wall, and Why You May or May Not Hit It

Until late 2025, View Company/LLP Master Data on V3 worked without an account, as it had on V2 for over a decade. Around 20 December 2025 practitioners began reporting that the portal sent them to the sign-in page first. We found no circular announcing the change.

ICSI pushed back. In its representation of 6 May 2026 the Institute asked that “access to basic company master data may be made available without mandatory login (as was the practice earlier), while continuing to restrict access to sensitive or detailed information behind login credentials.” Guides published since disagree about whether the wall is still up, and we could not confirm the live state ourselves. Depending on when you read this, you may hit a login screen or you may not.

If you do, the basic Registered User tier is enough. ICSI’s V3 FAQ lists master data services and View Public Documents among what a Registered User gets, so you need no Business User account, DIN or DSC just to look a company up. Our MCA V3 login and registration guide walks through creating one with a PAN and an email.

MCA V3 Master Data vs V2: What Actually Changed

The register itself did not change. The Ministry disabled e-filing of the last 38 company e-forms on V2 on 18 June 2025 and brought them live on V3 on 14 July 2025. What changed for master data is the front door, not the data behind it.

AspectV2, then V3
URLV2: The old mcafoportal link (see the FAQ below)
V3: MCA Services > Master Data > View Company/LLP Master Data
Login to view master dataV2: Never required
V3: Gated from December 2025; ICSI has asked for the gate to go, and reports since vary
Name searchV2: Name search box on the form
V3: Search icon opens a dialog with partial-name matching
View Public Documents windowV2: 7 days from payment, then 3 hours once you open the first document
V3: The same 7-day and 3-hour limits, served from My Workspace
View Public Documents feeV2: ₹100 per company or LLP
V3: ₹100 per company or LLP, up to five entities in one transaction
Login to view documentsV2: Not to browse, yes to download
V3: Yes to download; browsing may now sit behind the same gate

The V2 addresses fail because the mcafoportal application is not part of the V3 stack, yet older guides and bookmarks still point at viewCompanyMasterData.do, which is why searches for “mca master data v2” end on an error page. Firm write-ups put the final V2 switch-off at 30 June 2026, one citing an MCA public notice of March 2026 that we could not retrieve; whichever date applies, no current guide describes the V2 page as working. The broader picture is in our guide to what changed from V2 to V3.

One V3-specific gap: View Public Documents does not currently show DIR-12 director-change filings, citing personal-data restrictions, and practitioners report gaps in older V2-era filings too. For the fact of a director change, the signatory section of the master data page is the place to look.

When the Portal Errors Out

What you seeWhat it usually is, and what to do
“Access Denied. You don’t have permission to access … on this server”, with a reference numberMCA’s edge network is refusing your connection. Practitioners hit this on master data in September 2024 and cleared it by logging in first or switching network. Connections from outside India, and from VPN or datacentre networks, are commonly refused outright.
Sign-in page instead of the search formThe December 2025 login gate. Register as a Registered User, or use an independent source.
Captcha rejected repeatedlyReload the captcha rather than the page, then try another browser with extensions off; ad blockers interfere with the portal’s scripts.
“Something went wrong” or a spinner that never endsPortal load. V3 struggles at filing deadlines and has run on a disaster-recovery site since the 5 June 2026 fire at the MCA data centre, which MCA said at the time left some services not fully restored. Retry off-peak.
Record shows an old director or addressThe filing is pending or newly approved. Check the last-filing dates and the SRN status before calling the data wrong.

Without an Account

Master data is built from public filings, and independent platforms index the same register. WeeDoo company search gives you the record, status, capital, directors and last-filing dates on one page from a name or CIN, with no captcha and no sign-in. Director search does the same from a DIN or a name and lists the person’s other companies. New to lookups? Start with our guide to MCA company search.

Go to the portal itself when you need what only it provides: the filed documents through View Public Documents, or an official printout for a bank or a court.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MCA V3 master data free?

Viewing it has always been free of charge; the December 2025 change added a login, not a fee. Downloading filed documents through View Public Documents costs ₹100 per company or LLP.

Do I need a Business User account to view master data?

No. A Registered User account, which needs only a PAN and an email, covers master data services and View Public Documents. Business User is for filing on behalf of a company or LLP.

Why does my old V2 master data link not open?

Links under mca.gov.in/mcafoportal/ belong to the V2 application, which was retired with the V3 migration. Replace the bookmark with MCA Services > Master Data > View Company/LLP Master Data on the V3 portal.

Can I download the filed documents from the master data page?

No. The master data page is a summary. The forms and attachments sit under View Public Documents; downloading needs a login and ₹100 per company or LLP, after which the files stay in My Workspace for seven days, with three hours to finish once you open the first one.

Before You Search

Go in through MCA Services, not an old bookmark, with the CIN or LLPIN ready. Treat a sign-in page as the December 2025 gate, not a broken portal. And if you would rather not register just to read a public record, search the company on WeeDoo and keep the MCA account for the day you need to download a filing.
